Canadian Hearing Society
Founded in 1940, the Canadian Hearing Society (CHS) is a non-profit organization and the leading provider of services, products, and information that removes barriers to communication, advance hearing health, and promote equity for people who are culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing. CHS is governed by a board of directors, the majority of whom are culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing.
KW Sertoma Speed Skating Club
The K-W Sertoma Speed Skating Club was formed in 1963 by a group of interested families with a love for the sport. It remains a strong sports organization in Waterloo Region, balancing being a family-oriented club with training skaters of all ages, including Special Olympic Athletes.
Child Witness Center
The Child Witness Centre offers support to children up to age 18 in Waterloo Region, Guelph and Wellington County who have been victims of or witnesses to crimes. The services are based on the belief that going to court can be an anxious and difficult time for children and their families and with support and preparation, they are better able to cope. The agency plays an integral role in balancing the needs of the justice system with the child’s right not to be subjected to further emotional trauma.
There is a Symposium where over 2000 local grade eight students attend. The goal of the symposium is to promote the well-being of youth, helping them to grow to be healthy adults.
Synchronized Swim Club, Waterloo Region Artistic Swimming Club
In the early 1990’s the Waterloo Regional synchronized Swim Club approached the K-W Sertoma Club for help as they were unable to secure pool time. The K-W Sertoma Club helped financially and continues to do so today. Supporting the Waterloo Regional Swim team is another effort to help our youth grow and become healthy and responsible citizens
This is the biggest and most successful Synchronized Swim Club in South Western Ontario. They have won many national and provincial champions. The Sertoma Club are proud to be a supporter of such organization.
Wonders of Winter, Festival of Lights
Wonders of winter started in 1994 and have been a Christmas delight for many since.
This annual event has Trolley Rides to see the Magical Light display around Waterloo Park, which has entertained hundreds of thousands of people.
Child Witness Centre Annual Symposium
Since 2006 the K-W Sertoma Club has been the lead sponsor of the Child Witness Centre’s Annual Symposium for 2000 to 2500 grade eight students. The goals of the symposium are to equip the students with ideas, tools, motivation and confidence so they can cope effectively with their daily challenges. They learn how to make better choices in their life so they can grow to become good citizens.
Team Sports
We are proud to help to develop young athletes to become dedicated and disciplined adults. The success of this team is a result of the excellent coaching and volunteer support.
